Where it came from
Paragon of New Dawns was released in July 2014 as part of the Magic 2015 core set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed as an uncommon creature card intended to support white-aligned deck strategies by providing a passive power and toughness boost to other creatures sharing its color, reflecting the set's thematic focus on tribal synergies and color-specific identity.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized a bright, ethereal aesthetic to capture the 'New Dawn' motif. The design was received as a functional, mid-level staple for limited-format play, valued by players for its ability to stabilize boards in the mid-game, though it saw limited competitive use in constructed formats where more aggressive or efficient options were generally preferred.
