Where it came from
Piper Wright, Publick Reporter, is a creature card introduced in the Magic: The Gathering Fallout Commander set, released in 2024. The card depicts the titular character from the Fallout 4 video game, a journalist who operates the Publick Occurrences newspaper in Diamond City. The design seeks to capture her narrative role as an information gatherer and truth-seeker, represented mechanically through her ability to investigate and gain clues, echoing her investigative spirit within the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who rendered Piper in her signature trench coat and newsboy cap, maintaining the aesthetic fidelity expected for the collaborative set. It emerged from the 'Science!' deck, reflecting the intersection of collectible card game mechanics and the lore of the Fallout franchise. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of both the game and the card set for its thematic accuracy and ability to facilitate card-draw strategies that align with her character’s curiosity.
