Where it came from
Platoon Dispenser was released in 2022 as part of The Brothers' War, a Magic: The Gathering expansion centered on the iconic conflict between Urza and Mishra. The set was designed to evoke the aesthetic of mid-century industrial fantasy, with artifact-heavy gameplay mechanics that reflect the relentless production lines and war machine manufacturing depicted in the lore of the setting.
Illustrated by artist Simon Dominic, the card design emphasizes the mechanical, utilitarian nature of the artifact. The artwork focuses on a central, hulking device meant to symbolize the mobilization of vast armies, consistent with the set's themes of industrial attrition. It was received as a functional addition to artifact-themed decks, appreciated for its ability to provide board presence through token generation.
