Where it came from
Point the Way was released in the Aetherdrift expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed to function as an uncommon support spell within the set’s mechanical framework, which emphasizes movement, exploration, and the navigational themes central to the Aetherdrift plane’s narrative of crossing treacherous, shifting landscapes.
The card features illustration by an artist commissioned to capture the ethereal and fluid aesthetic consistent with Aetherdrift’s art direction. The design sought to visually convey the act of divination or guidance through unstable terrain, and upon release, it was integrated into the limited environment to provide players with a strategic tool for mana filtering and deck consistency.
