Predation Steward

Predation Steward was released in early 2023 as part of the Phyrexia: All Will Be One expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This set centers on the return to New Phyrexia, a plane consumed by a biomechanical infection, and focuses on the aesthetic of body horror and metallic assimilation. The card serves as a representative of the faction’s philosophy, illustrating the transformation of living tissue into the cold, calculated precision of the Phyrexians.

The artwork for this card was provided by Chris Rahn, a prolific illustrator known for his ability to render high-fantasy subjects with a dark, atmospheric tension. In designing the Steward, the goal was to evoke a sense of inevitable, creeping decay while maintaining the sleek, industrial look signature to the Phyrexian aesthetic.
