Where it came from
Prosperity first appeared in the Visions expansion in 1997, designed as a blue sorcery that allowed players to draw cards equal to the amount of mana spent. It reflects the set's thematic emphasis on mechanics that scaled with player resources, standing out as a rare card that could fundamentally alter the flow of a game by forcing both players to draw a significant number of cards.
The version from the Classic Sixth Edition, released in 1999, marks the first time the game utilized the updated 'Modern' card frame and standardized rules text. Illustrators like Randy Asplund-Faith contributed to the visual identity of the era, focusing on clear, fantasy-inspired iconography that aligned with the game's shift toward a more consistent aesthetic foundation for its core sets.
