Where it came from
Released in the early 1990s as part of the Star Trek: The Next Generation customizable card game by Decipher, this card depicts the omnipotent being known as Q. The game arrived during the height of the 1990s trading card boom, designed to capitalize on the massive global popularity of the televised series by allowing players to simulate encounters between crews and cosmic entities.
The card features artwork derived from promotional photography of John de Lancie in character. The design team focused on incorporating the series' complex lore into mechanics, with Q serving as a disruptive influence. Upon release, the set was noted for its depth and technical complexity, becoming a staple for fans seeking to mirror the show's intricate narrative conflicts on the tabletop.
