Provenance

Where it came from

The Quicksilver Dragon was originally printed in the Scourge expansion in 2003, but this specific version appeared in the 2014 Duel Decks Anthology: Jace vs. Chandra. The Anthology release was designed as a retrospective collection that reprinted the first four pairs of the popular Duel Decks series, which were originally conceived as a way to provide players with balanced, pre-constructed decks designed for head-to-head play.

The illustration for the card was created by artist Carl Critchlow, whose work is characterized by a distinct, sharp-lined fantasy style that became a staple of the era. The dragon features a unique 'morph' ability, allowing it to be played face-down as a mystery to the opponent, reflecting the tactical, mind-game focus of the blue-aligned Jace deck it was included in to challenge the aggressive nature of the Chandra deck.
