Radical Idea

Radical Idea was originally released in the 2018 set Guilds of Ravnica, designed as a blue instant that introduced the jump-start mechanic to the game. This mechanic allowed players to cast the spell from their graveyard by discarding a card, reflecting the impulsive and innovative nature of the Izzet League, one of the ten iconic guilds of the Ravnica setting. The card was envisioned by Wizards of the Coast design teams to provide card selection and utility for spells-matter archetypes, effectively balancing repeatable resource management with the cost of discarding cards.

The Ravnica Remastered version, collector number 58, serves as a curated inclusion intended to celebrate the history of the plane of Ravnica. Featuring original illustration by Lake Hurwitz, the art depicts the chaotic, lightning-infused aesthetic characteristic of the Izzet guild's laboratories. Upon its initial release and subsequent inclusion in the remastered set, the card was received as a solid, functional tool for limited formats and budget-friendly constructed decks, valued primarily for its consistency in smoothing out draws.
