Where it came from
Rain of Revelation was released in 2020 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2021. Designed by Wizards of the Coast, the card was intended to provide blue decks with a versatile, instant-speed method for card advantage, drawing three cards and discarding one. This design echoes the classic 'looting' mechanics that have been a staple of blue utility spells throughout the game's history.
The artwork for this particular printing was illustrated by Johannes Voss. Voss sought to capture the ethereal, torrential nature of magical knowledge pouring down onto a seeker, emphasizing the blue mana identity of intellectual pursuit. Upon its release, the card was received as a solid, functional piece for Limited formats, offering players a reliable way to filter their hands and recover from resource depletion in the mid-to-late game.
