Rain-Slicked Copse // Rain-Slicked Copse

Rain-Slicked Copse originates from the Lorwyn Eclipsed Art Series, a specialized expansion released by Wizards of the Coast to celebrate the folklore-infused aesthetic of the Lorwyn plane. These cards were designed to highlight the transition of the setting into the darker Shadowmoor era, focusing on the shifting, often unsettling nature of the woodland environment.

The artwork for this piece was crafted to emphasize the atmospheric tension of a forest caught in an eternal, gloomy downpour. By utilizing a muted color palette and high-contrast lighting, the illustrator aimed to evoke a sense of damp, claustrophobic isolation. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors for its distinct contribution to the visual narrative of the set, effectively capturing the duality of the environment through its dual-faced design.
