Where it came from
Ravager of the Fells was released as part of the Innistrad Remastered Art Series in 2025. This series was curated to celebrate the visual legacy of the original Innistrad block, a fan-favorite setting within the Magic: The Gathering multiverse known for its gothic horror aesthetic and transformative mechanics. The card acts as a high-fidelity showcase for the artwork originally seen on the Ravager of the Fells flip-card, allowing collectors to appreciate the illustration without the typical game-mechanical text overlay.
The artwork for this piece was created by Aleksi Briclot, a long-time contributor to the game whose distinctively visceral, textured style has defined many of the series' most iconic creatures. Briclot sought to capture the ferocity and shifting anatomy of the werewolf, emphasizing the moment of transformation from a human figure into a monstrous predator. The piece was well-received by the player community for its successful synthesis of classic horror tropes and the high-fantasy framing of the Magic art direction.
