The Razorfin Abolisher was released in July 2008 as part of the Eventide expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. As the second half of the Shadowmoor block, Eventide focused on the themes of day-night cycles and the shifting, twilight aesthetic of the plane of Shadowmoor.
