Where it came from
Recantation was released in 1998 as part of the Urza's Saga expansion set for Magic: The Gathering. This set, named after the iconic character Urza, is highly regarded by players for its powerful enchantments and artifacts, which often defined the competitive metagame of the late nineties.
The card features artwork by Christopher Rush, one of the most prolific and celebrated illustrators in the game's history. His design for this card utilizes a clean, distinct style to depict the mechanical process of removing permanents from the battlefield, reflecting the intricate and often complex themes of the Urza's Saga narrative arc.
