Where it came from
Reclamation Sage originated as a card in the Magic: The Gathering Commander 2014 set, designed as a green creature capable of destroying artifacts or enchantments upon entering the battlefield. Its utility made it a staple in the game's social formats, leading to its inclusion in various specialty reprints. The Secret Lair Drop version, specifically numbered 777, represents a curated release intended to offer players alternative, artist-driven aesthetics for established game mechanics.
The art for this specific printing was produced by the artist Wylie Beckert. Known for a distinct, illustrative style that often leans into intricate linework and muted, ethereal color palettes, Beckert sought to provide a fresh interpretation of the card's nature-aligned, artifact-destroying theme. Upon its release, this iteration was well-received by the collector community for its departure from traditional Magic art conventions, positioning the card as much as a collectible art piece as a functional tool for gameplay.
