What it does

Whenever you attack, target creature gains deathtouch until end of turn.

Whenever one or more creatures you control deal combat damage to a player, create a Treasure token, then look at the top card of that player's library and exile it face down. You may cast that card for as long as it remains exiled. (A Treasure token is an artifact with "tap, Sacrifice this token: Add one mana of any color.")

Provenance

Where it came from

Rev, Tithe Extractor is a card featured in The List, a curated selection of reprints integrated into Magic: The Gathering booster packs to showcase the game's expansive history. Introduced as a way to reintroduce powerful or flavorful cards from older expansions to modern players, The List serves as a bridge between the current meta and the legacy of the game's design evolution. This particular card was originally designed to introduce complex board-state interactions and resource management, reflecting the strategic depth that has defined the game's creature-based mechanics for decades.

The visual design of the card leans into the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, emphasizing the role of the extractor within the game's lore. Illustrators for the series are tasked with balancing functional readability with thematic storytelling, ensuring that each piece conveys the unique personality and mechanical utility of the character. Since its initial debut, the card has been received as a versatile tool for deck-builders who prioritize control-oriented play styles and tactical utility.
