It serves as a color-shifted version of the iconic red burn spell Lightning Bolt, allowing players to cast it for its suspend cost early in the game or pay the full mana cost later to interact instantly. This design was intended to balance high-impact damage with a delayed-action restriction, creating a unique tempo tool for aggressive deck archetypes.

The Iconic Masters printing, featuring artwork by Raymond Swanland, was released in 2017 to highlight powerful and historically significant cards from the game's history. Swanland’s illustration leans into his signature high-energy, dynamic style, capturing the chaotic, planar-shifting nature of the spell as it tears through the fabric of the battlefield.
