Roaring Primadox

Roaring Primadox was introduced in the Magic 2013 core set, released in July 2012. As a green creature card, it was designed to embody the color's thematic focus on large, powerful beasts while introducing a mechanical drawback intended to encourage strategic deck building. The design team sought to balance the card's high power-to-mana cost ratio by forcing the player to return a permanent to their hand each turn, transforming a seemingly standard creature into a tactical utility piece.

The artwork for the card was created by illustrator Svetlin Velinov, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering catalog. Velinov focused on capturing the creature's aggressive, primal nature, portraying it as a formidable beast within the wild, untamed landscapes often associated with green-aligned cards. Upon its release, the card found a niche audience among players who utilized its ability to trigger enter-the-battlefield effects repeatedly, leading to its inclusion in various combo-oriented strategies throughout its time in competitive rotation.
