Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary

Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary was released in 1999 as part of the Urza's Destiny set, the final installment of the Urza block. This set concluded the multi-year storyline following the artificer Urza and his conflict with the Phyrexians. Rofellos represents a pivotal character in the lore, serving as a powerful elf leader who helped defend his home against the encroaching mechanical invaders.

The card was illustrated by Donato Giancola, a highly regarded fantasy artist whose work often emphasizes depth and atmospheric lighting. The design of the card, featuring a powerful mana-generating ability, made it a cornerstone of green decks during its release. While it became a staple of competitive play due to its efficiency, it was later banned in the Commander format, which solidified its status as an iconic and somewhat controversial relic of late-nineties Magic design.
