Scatter the Seeds

Scatter the Seeds was originally printed in the 2019 set Modern Horizons, designed by Wizards of the Coast to introduce new cards directly into the Modern format. The card features an artwork by Magali Villeneuve, who was tasked with depicting the Selesnya Conclave’s signature ability, populate, which allows players to create a token copy of a creature they already control. Villeneuve’s illustration captures the communal, growth-oriented aesthetic of the guild, emphasizing the transition from individual potential to collective abundance within the flora of Ravnica.

This specific iteration comes from The List, a curated selection of cards that Wizards of the Coast began including in Set Boosters in 2020. The List features reprints of cards from throughout Magic: The Gathering's history, often identified by a small planeswalker symbol in the bottom-left corner of the card frame. Its inclusion in The List serves to make older or niche cards more accessible to players opening current product, preserving the card's original mechanical identity while integrating it into the modern player experience.
