What it does

During your main phase, each card in your graveyard has beam me up. The beam me up cost is equal to that spell's mana cost. Scotty can't be beamed up to cast a spell this way. (Only instant and sorcery spells can be cast this way. You may cast a card from your graveyard for its beam me up cost if you also return another creature you control to its owner's hand. Then exile that spell.)

"Aye, they're into the machinery, all right!"

Provenance

Where it came from

The 'Scotty, Miracle Worker' card, numbered 328, is part of the extensive Star Trek trading card sets produced to commemorate the long-standing legacy of the franchise. These cards were designed to capture iconic moments and character portraits, serving as a nostalgic touchstone for fans of the original series. The design aesthetic typically adheres to the classic mid-century futurism of Star Trek, highlighting James Doohan's portrayal of Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott.

The card was produced during the era when trading cards shifted from simple confectionery inserts to highly collectible items targeted at dedicated science fiction enthusiasts. These sets were generally curated by production companies to reflect the show's cultural impact, focusing on the essential role of the chief engineer as a solver of impossible technical crises. Received with consistent warmth by the collecting community, the card is valued primarily for its focus on a foundational character who became synonymous with the series' problem-solving ethos.
