Where it came from
Scout the Wilderness is a common green sorcery card released in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering set Dominaria United. The set was designed as a nostalgic return to the plane of Dominaria, celebrating the game's long-running history and themes of historic artifacts and legendary creatures. This card reflects the set's mechanical focus on domain, a keyword ability that rewards players for controlling multiple basic land types.
The card features artwork by artist Jason A. Engle, who has been a frequent contributor to Magic: The Gathering for many years. His illustration captures the rugged, untamed spirit of the Dominarian landscape, depicting an explorer navigating the wild. The design aims to provide players with a functional tool for land ramp and color fixing within the limited and constructed environments of the Dominaria United format.
