Provenance

Where it came from

Scrounging Bandar was released in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Jumpstart. This product was designed as a unique, self-contained play experience, consisting of twenty-card packs themed around specific mechanics or creatures that players could combine to form ready-to-play decks. The card itself represents the kaladesh-themed 'Cats' deck, capturing the spirit of the plane's resourceful wildlife through its ability to distribute +1/+1 counters.

The card features artwork by illustration veteran Nils Hamm, whose distinctive, painterly style is well-recognized throughout the game's history. Hamm aimed to depict the Bandar as an agile, scavenger-like primate in its natural habitat, emphasizing the creature's clever nature. The card was received as a solid utility piece for green-aligned aggressive decks, particularly those focused on growth mechanics and creature synergy.
