Lore

Why it matters

Shared Animosity acts as a powerful force multiplier for creature-heavy decks, transforming a wide board of attackers into a significant threat by scaling their power based on the number of creatures participating in the assault. As a rare card from the Explorers of Ixalan set, it is a prized tool for collectors and players who favor aggressive strategies that rely on overwhelming opponents through sheer volume of numbers.

Provenance

Where it came from

Shared Animosity was originally printed in the Morningtide expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2008, designed as an enchantment that rewards tribal synergy. The card reflects the set's thematic focus on creature types and collaborative mechanics, specifically encouraging players to flood the board with creatures that share a type to amplify their offensive capabilities.

The version from Explorers of Ixalan, released in 2017, features updated frame aesthetics while retaining the original mechanical utility. The art, illustrated by Matt Cavotta, depicts a chaotic, aggressive scene that visually reinforces the card's function of turning a swarm of smaller creatures into a formidable collective force, a concept that has remained a staple in tribal-themed decks.
