Where it came from
Siani, Eye of the Storm was introduced in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Commander Legends. This set was designed specifically for the Commander format, featuring a draftable experience that introduced legendary creatures meant to serve as deck leaders. The character is depicted as a sky-knight of the Azorius Senate on the plane of Ravnica, embodying the order and aerial mastery associated with that faction.
The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who captured the character mid-flight against a backdrop of swirling clouds and crystalline structures. The design focuses on the 'scry' mechanic, allowing players to manipulate the top of their library as they attack, which reflects the tactical, forethought-heavy nature of blue-aligned decks in the game. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of Limited Commander formats for its utility as a reliable, repeatable engine for card selection.
