Where it came from
Sidisi, Undead Vizier was originally released in the 2015 Magic: The Gathering expansion Dragons of Tarkir. This specific version is a promotional printing released alongside the set, featuring unique alternate art that distinguishes it from the standard card found in booster packs. The character of Sidisi, a Naga vizier of the Sultai Brood, serves as a pivotal figure in the lore of the Tarkir plane, embodying themes of ruthless ambition and necromantic power.
The artwork for this promotional edition was illustrated by Min Yum, who captured the character's unsettling, serpentine nature through detailed linework and a muted, atmospheric color palette. The card gained significant popularity among players for its powerful 'exploit' ability, which allows a player to sacrifice a creature to tutor for any card from their library. It remains a staple in the Commander format, favored by players who utilize graveyard-focused strategies and synergy-based gameplay.
