Siege-Gang Commander

Siege-Gang Commander was originally introduced in the 2003 Scourge expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed by the Wizards of the Coast development team to provide red decks with a powerful creature-based utility tool. Its mechanics, which allow players to sacrifice Goblins to deal direct damage, became a hallmark of red strategy, emphasizing the aggressive and often disposable nature of Goblin tribal decks within the game's evolving meta.

The version from the 2018 Dominaria set features updated artwork by Greg Staples, who moved away from the more cartoonish aesthetic of earlier iterations toward a gritty, tactical depiction of the commander. This redesign was well-received by the player base, as it successfully bridged the gap between the card's classic, high-impact legacy and the modern visual standards of the Dominaria block, reinforcing the character's status as an iconic figure in red deck archetypes.
