What it does

1 generic mana, tap: Add green mana blue mana.

For the Simic Combine, its sigil serves not as an emblem of honor but as a trademark. Its familiar image on any biological commodity attests to superb craftsmanship, ingenious innovation, and higher cost.

Provenance

Where it came from

The Simic Signet was originally released in the Ravnica: City of Guilds expansion in 2005, designed as part of a cycle of mana-fixing artifacts representing the ten guilds of Ravnica. The Signets were created to provide players with consistent ramp and color-fixing in a multi-color environment, quickly becoming a staple in the Commander format for their efficiency and utility. The Commander 2015 reprint, collector number 266, was included in the Plunder the Graves deck, specifically curated to support the graveyard-focused strategies of the black-green-blue color identity.

The artwork for the original iteration was illustrated by Greg Staples, who captured the biografting and evolutionary aesthetic of the Simic Combine by depicting a fluid, organic synthesis of animal and plant motifs. The design focuses on the guild's identity of biomancy, blending serpentine curves with crystalline structures. The Commander 2015 version maintains this visual legacy, serving as a functional utility piece that remains highly regarded by deck builders for its reliability in managing mana resources during mid-game progression.
