Slagwoods Bridge // Slagwoods Bridge

Slagwoods Bridge was released in 2021 as part of the Modern Horizons 2 Art Series, a specialized subset of Magic: The Gathering cards designed to showcase the expanded illustrative work featured in the main expansion. This card features the artwork by Titus Lunter, who was commissioned to visualize the environment of the artifact lands within the game's expansive multiverse, specifically focusing on the intersection of industrial structure and natural decay.

The design of the bridge captures a moment of atmospheric tension, emphasizing the juxtaposition of metallic, forged materials against the overgrown, rugged terrain typical of the plane depicted. Lunter’s approach prioritizes light and texture, creating a sense of scale that anchors the viewer in the world's geography. The Art Series cards were released as a collectible bonus, intended to provide a high-quality visual focus on the game's aesthetic craft, and they have since become appreciated by fans for their lack of game-functional text, which allows the full-bleed artwork to stand alone.
