Snapping Gnarlid

Snapping Gnarlid is a creature card introduced in the Magic: The Gathering set Foundations Jumpstart, which serves as an entry point for both new and returning players. The creature type, Gnarlid, is rooted in the Zendikar plane, a world defined by its volatile landscapes and prehistoric, untamed wildlife that thrives on the planet's intense mana. Mechanically, the card continues the long-standing tradition of green creatures that gain permanent power and toughness boosts through the landfall ability, rewarding players for expanding their land base during gameplay.

The art and design reflect the aggressive, predator-focused nature of Zendikar's beasts. By simplifying the interaction of the landfall mechanic, the card aligns with the Foundations set's goal of creating a stable, evergreen gameplay experience that remains intuitive for beginners while offering strategic depth. It fits into the broader visual identity of Magic: The Gathering's modern era, prioritizing dynamic creature design and clear, combat-oriented functionality that defines the green color identity within the game's color pie.
