Where it came from
Sorin's Guide was released in 2019 as a promotional card associated with the Magic: The Gathering Core Set 2020. This card specifically features the planeswalker Sorin Markov, a central and enduring figure in the game's gothic horror-themed plane of Innistrad. The card was designed to function as a visual reference guide for players, showcasing the aesthetic evolution and character traits of Sorin as he appeared throughout his narrative arc in the game.
The card’s design employs a sleek, informative layout that departs from the traditional mechanics-heavy look of standard play cards. By utilizing the refined art style associated with the Innistrad expansions, the piece captures Sorin's characteristic brooding elegance. It was received by the community as a thoughtful collector's item, primarily serving as a commemorative piece for long-time followers of the character rather than a functional component for competitive deck construction.
