Spider-Man India // Spider-Man India

Spider-Man India, also known as Pavitr Prabhakar, was introduced in the 2004 limited series Spider-Man: India, a collaboration between Marvel Comics and Gotham Entertainment Group. Created by Sharad Devarajan, Suresh Seetharaman, and Jeevan J. Kang, the character was designed to reimagine Peter Parker’s mythos within a Mumbai setting, blending the classic web-slinger archetype with cultural nuances and local folklore. The art style, characterized by Kang’s vibrant, dynamic panels, aimed to translate the urgency of the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko vision into a contemporary Indian aesthetic.

The card featured in the Marvel's Spider-Man Art Series highlights this specific iteration of the hero, focusing on his distinctive, streamlined costume design. Within the broader Art Series, the card serves as a celebration of the character's global expansion and his enduring influence on the multiverse concept. It is generally regarded by collectors as an important entry for those tracking the diversification of the Spider-Man legacy, serving as a visual tribute to the creative pivot that successfully introduced a globally resonant, culturally distinct take on a foundational superhero.
