Where it came from
Split Screen was originally introduced in the Unstable expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2017, designed as part of the 'Un-set' series that focuses on humorous mechanics and breaking traditional game rules. The card allows players to manage two separate decks simultaneously, leaning into the chaotic, lighthearted design philosophy maintained by Wizards of the Coast for their supplemental, non-tournament-legal sets.
The art for this specific printing, featured in The List for Unfinity, continues the whimsical aesthetic of the card, illustrating the absurdity of navigating two parallel realities within a single game session. This particular version includes the specialized foil treatment characteristic of the Unfinity era, which aimed to bring high-end aesthetic appeal to the playful, unconventional cards that distinguish the Un-series from standard expansions.
