Street Wraith

Street Wraith was originally introduced in the 2007 Future Sight expansion, designed as part of the 'cycling' mechanic's return to the game. It was conceived as a high-risk, high-reward utility card, allowing players to cycle it for zero mana at the cost of two life, which effectively thins the deck and fuels graveyard-based strategies. The card became a cornerstone of various competitive formats, particularly Modern, where its ability to manipulate deck size and graveyard resources proved exceptionally powerful.

The version from Time Spiral Remastered, released in 2021, features the classic card frame and the original, unsettling artwork by Greg Staples. Staples, known for his dark and visceral aesthetic, captured the creature as a spectral, shifting entity caught between realities, which perfectly aligns with the lore of the Time Spiral block—a narrative focused on the collapse and mending of the multiverse. The remaster set was designed to honor the history of these mechanics, presenting them to modern players in a refined, nostalgic package that highlights the evolution of the game's design.
