Where it came from
The Summitfest Closing Ceremony card was released as part of Alchemy: Secrets of Strixhaven, a digital-only expansion for Magic: The Gathering Arena introduced in 2021. The set was designed to explore the magical university of Strixhaven through the lens of the Alchemy format, which utilizes digital-exclusive mechanics like 'conjure' and 'seek' that are not possible in traditional paper play.
The card’s illustration depicts the festive conclusion of the university's academic year, capturing the chaotic and scholarly spirit of the institution. As a digital-only asset, the design focuses on leveraging the interactive potential of the platform, providing players with a thematic experience that emphasizes the collaborative and high-energy atmosphere established in the core Strixhaven: School of Mages set.
