Where it came from
Anina, Natural Parallelist was released in 2021 as part of Alchemy: Secrets of Strixhaven, a digital-only expansion for the Magic: The Gathering Arena platform. Unlike traditional physical cards, this set was designed specifically for a digital environment, allowing for unique mechanics that track information across zones—a feat difficult to manage with paper components. The character is depicted as a researcher within the Strixhaven University setting, specifically focusing on the intersection of natural magic and the academic pursuit of magical theory.
The art and design for the card were crafted to reflect the scholarly yet untamed aesthetic of the Witherbloom College. The illustration highlights the juxtaposition of mystical nature and precise study, fitting the set's theme of uncovering hidden magical secrets. While the card is not a physical collectible, it gained significant attention among the digital player base for its role in creature-focused strategies and its contribution to the expanded lore of the Strixhaven setting.
