What it does
Exile target creature and put two time counters on it. If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend. (At the beginning of its owner's upkeep, they remove a time counter. When the last is removed, they may play it without paying its mana cost. If it's a creature, it has haste.)
Time moves in mysterious ways.

Where it came from
Suspend was originally printed in the Time Spiral expansion in 2006, designed to represent the concept of temporary removal from the game's timeline. It returned in the 2021 set Modern Horizons 2, a direct-to-Modern product curated to introduce powerful, nostalgia-driven mechanics to competitive play. The reprint features updated card frame technology while maintaining the thematic resonance of the original temporal exile mechanic.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Christopher Rush for the initial printing, with later versions utilizing the cohesive aesthetic established for the Modern Horizons 2 release. The design centers on the visual manifestation of time dilation, balancing the functional utility of removing a threat for a set duration against the eventual risk of that threat returning. It is widely viewed by players as a staple piece of disruption in blue-based tempo strategies.
