Provenance

Where it came from

The Talisman of Indulgence was first released in the Warhammer 40,000 Commander deck series for Magic: The Gathering in 2022. This set was designed to integrate the grimdark aesthetic of the Warhammer 40,000 universe into the mechanics of the Commander format, with this specific card serving as a mana-producing artifact that reflects the self-destructive, resource-draining nature of the setting.

The art for this version of the card was created by artist Lius Lasahido. The illustration depicts the iconography associated with the chaos-aligned factions of the 40k lore, emphasizing the themes of forbidden power and indulgence through its stark, aggressive visual style. It was well-received by players for its thematic consistency and utility, becoming a staple in decks that utilize its specific color identity.
