What it does
As long as a creature has a -1/-1 counter on it, this creature has vigilance and deathtouch.
The crocodiles of the Broken Lands, long used to feeding on undead flesh, eagerly flooded into Naktamun for a taste of something fresher.

Where it came from
Tenacious Hunter was released in 2017 as part of the Hour of Devastation expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set depicts the final, climactic battle on the plane of Amonkhet, where the elder dragon Nicol Bolas returns to reclaim his realm. As a card within this block, the Hunter represents the desperate struggle of the inhabitants against the overwhelming forces of destruction orchestrated by the set's primary antagonist.
The card was illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, who captures the aggressive, predatory nature of the creature through dynamic posture and intense lighting. Designed as a green common, it features the 'exert' mechanic, a thematic hallmark of the set that allows a creature to push beyond its limits at the cost of being unable to untap during the player's next turn, perfectly mirroring the theme of sacrificial combat central to the Amonkhet narrative.
