Where it came from
Terastodon was originally introduced in the Worldwake expansion for Magic: The Gathering in 2010. Designed as a high-mana green creature with a powerful ability to destroy non-creature permanents, it was intended to serve as a late-game utility threat in both casual and competitive formats. The card quickly gained a reputation for its massive impact on the board, offering players a way to handle problematic artifacts, enchantments, or lands while simultaneously creating defensive tokens.
The specific Worldwake Promo version, marked with collector number A6, features unique border treatments associated with the set's promotional distribution. Illustrating the massive elephant-like creature, artist Aleksi Briclot leaned into a sense of scale and ancient majesty, utilizing earthy tones and dynamic lighting to emphasize the card's destructive potential. As a staple of the green color identity, this particular printing is highly regarded by collectors for its distinctive visual aesthetic and its role in defining the power level of green ramp strategies during its era.
