Testament of Faith

Testament of Faith was released in 2001 as part of the Odyssey expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, the set was designed to shift the game’s mechanics toward graveyard interaction and high-mana strategies, marking a departure from the previous Invasion block’s multi-colored focus. This card was conceived as a white-aligned enchantment, fitting the theme of religious and structured devotion that often characterizes white-mana spells within the game's color pie.

The card’s illustration was created by artist Christopher Moeller, who employed his signature painterly style to evoke a sense of divine permanence. In the context of the Odyssey set, which introduced the Threshold mechanic, Testament of Faith served as a defensive tool that allowed players to convert mana into toughness, reflecting the set’s emphasis on resource management. While it was not a centerpiece of competitive tournament play, it is recognized by collectors as a quintessential example of early 2000s fantasy card art.
