Where it came from
The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride was introduced in the 2024 Magic: The Gathering set Outlaws of Thunder Junction. This card represents a thematic shift for the character, reimagining the fan-favorite Gitrog Monster within the set's western-inspired frontier aesthetic. Designed as a legendary creature, it utilizes the 'saddle' mechanic to reflect its role as an oversized, monstrous mount roaming the plane.
The artwork for this specific promotional version was created to align with the stylistic motifs of the set, emphasizing the rugged environment of the Thunder Junction plane. Like many promotional variants in modern Magic: The Gathering, this version is distinguished by its unique collector number and distinct frame treatment, intended to provide collectors with a more specialized aesthetic compared to the standard printing found in traditional booster packs.
