Where it came from
The Odd Acorn Gang was introduced as part of the Bloomburrow Commander set, a collection released in 2024 centered on a whimsical, high-fantasy woodland realm. As a card within the 'Family Matters' preconstructed deck, it represents the set's thematic focus on small-stature creature synergy and the communal bond of animal folk living in a precarious, oversized environment.
The card features artwork by illustrator Zezhou Chen, who captured the gang’s mischievous yet collaborative spirit through a vibrant, painterly style consistent with the cozy aesthetic of the Bloomburrow plane. The design emphasizes the 'offspring' mechanic, reflecting the set’s mechanical emphasis on growth and the nurturing of smaller creatures into more powerful allies.
