Where it came from
The Raven's Warning is a promotional card released as part of the Kaldheim set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It features the unique 'promo' treatment typical of the set's release cycle, which drew heavy aesthetic inspiration from Norse mythology and the harsh, icy landscapes of Scandinavian folklore. The card serves as a thematic bridge between the game's high-fantasy mechanics and the specific narrative arc of the Kaldheim plane.
The artwork for this piece was created by illustrator Randy Vargas, who utilized a vivid color palette to evoke the mystical and ominous atmosphere central to the character of the Raven, a recurring figure in the set's story. Upon its release, the card was received as a versatile utility piece in competitive formats, appreciated by players for its ability to manipulate deck flow and introduce strategic elements of foresight into gameplay.
