What it does

Whenever The Seventh Doctor attacks, choose a card in your hand. Defending player guesses whether that card's mana value is greater than the number of artifacts you control. If they guessed wrong, you may cast it without paying its mana cost. If you don't cast a spell this way, investigate. (Create a Clue token. It's an artifact with "2 generic mana, Sacrifice this token: Draw a card.")

Provenance

Where it came from

The Seventh Doctor card, numbered 1149 within the Doctor Who trading card series, commemorates the incarnation of the Time Lord portrayed by Sylvester McCoy. This version of the character debuted on television in 1987, representing the final era of the original run of the program before its hiatus in 1989. The card captures the character's signature eccentric aesthetic, defined by a flamboyant beige coat, a question-mark-adorned sweater, and his constant companion, a question-mark-handled umbrella.

Card designs in this series typically rely on official production stills taken by the BBC during filming to maintain continuity with the show's visual identity. The Seventh Doctor’s depiction highlights the transition from his initially whimsical, lighthearted persona to the darker, more manipulative chess-master archetype that developed toward the end of his tenure. Collectors often value this entry for its role in documenting the conclusion of the classic series and the bridging of the gap to the 1996 television movie.
