Where it came from
The Sound of Drums is a card from the Doctor Who trading card game, specifically released as part of the expansion based on the revived era of the long-running British science fiction series. It depicts a pivotal narrative arc from the show’s third series, highlighting the Master's return and his manipulation of the global political landscape. These cards were produced to capture the high-stakes drama and character-driven tension that defined the Russell T Davies era of the program.
The design of the set focuses on thematic consistency with the show's visual identity, utilizing promotional photography and iconic imagery to resonate with fans of the series. The cards were intended to serve both as functional components for gameplay and as collectibles for viewers looking to chronicle the evolving lore of the Doctor. While the game itself did not maintain a long-term competitive presence, the cards remain valued by enthusiasts for their archival representation of specific television episodes and character archetypes.
