Thraben Inspector // Thraben Inspector

The Thraben Inspector was originally introduced in the 2016 Magic: The Gathering expansion Shadows over Innistrad. Designed as a common creature, the card quickly became a staple in multiple competitive formats due to its efficient mana cost and the utility of the Clue token it generates upon entering the battlefield. It represents a member of the cathar guard within the gothic horror-inspired plane of Innistrad, tasked with investigating the encroaching supernatural threats that define the world's lore.

The Innistrad Remastered Art Series version, released in 2025, serves as a celebration of the visual identity of the set. This specific iteration highlights the original illustration by Johannes Voss, whose work is highly regarded for its atmospheric clarity and character focus. By stripping away the game mechanics and focusing solely on the card's artwork, the series caters to collectors who prioritize the narrative and aesthetic contributions made by the game's illustrators over the mechanical gameplay of the card itself.
