Where it came from
Three Dreams was released as part of the Planechase 2012 set, a supplemental product designed to expand upon the multiplayer variant of Magic: The Gathering. The card itself is a reprint of the original version from Saviors of Kamigawa, maintaining its role as a powerful tutor effect that allows players to search their library for up to three different Auras. This reprint served to make the card more accessible to players participating in Commander and other multiplayer formats where such searching tools are highly valued.
The artwork for this particular iteration of the card was illustrated by Howard Lyon. Lyon, known for his work in the fantasy and fine art spheres, utilized a painterly style to evoke the ethereal and dreamlike quality suggested by the card's name. His design choices were intended to convey a sense of serenity and magical gathering, reflecting the mechanics of pulling distinct enchantments from the unconscious repository of the player's deck. It remains a stable piece in the canon of enchantment-based strategy cards.
