Thundercloud Shaman

Thundercloud Shaman was introduced as part of the Commander 2015 set, a release designed to expand the multiplayer-focused Commander format for Magic: The Gathering. As a Giant Shaman specifically tailored for tribal synergy, the card was conceptualized to reward players for building decks around the Giant creature type, serving as both a board presence and a reactive threat that deals damage to non-Giant creatures upon entering the battlefield.

The artwork was created by illustrator Lucas Graciano, who utilized a bold, dramatic style to capture the character's elemental nature. The design focuses on the duality of the Shaman's command over lightning and his physical stature, aiming to convey a sense of scale and power that fits the aesthetic traditions of the Giant creature type within the game’s lore. Since its debut, it has remained a staple inclusion in red-based Giant tribal decks for its efficient utility.
