Where it came from
Tombstalker was released in 2007 as part of the Future Sight set for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to showcase the new 'delve' mechanic, which allowed players to reduce the casting cost of a card by exiling cards from their graveyard, a design choice intended to reward players for managing their graveyard resources throughout the game.
